Littlest girl, pattilovesviggo, my sis. Pat. Middle girl with silly sun-hat - me. Big girl, friend next door, Joan. The daft hat he is wearing is his brother, Reginald's, sailor hat. Uncle Reg was invalided out of the Royal Navy during the war.



It's my Dad's birthday today. If he had been alive he would, I have just realised, be one hundred years old, today - born John Leonard Edwards, in Swansea, Wales on 21 November 1908 eldest child of Joseph Arthur Edwards and Mary Eleanor Edwards,(maiden name same as married name) after four months of marriage! Oh, NANA!!! :D

He was such a lovely man, funny and good company, and I have only happy memories of him, although his last years were painful. He was sweet.

He died on October 17 1963, a month before his 54th birthday, of a heart attack brought on by emphysema caused by smoking. Smokers amongst you, beware.

After our mother left him, he looked after us on his own, and although he was very sick, and it was hard for us all, he did his utmost best. So I would like to pay tribute to him, now. He is a good man - goodness and love never die.
