ismeninHELP! A computer idiot needs your help! If you know a tad more than how to switch it on - the limit of my knowledge - please help!

Richie, (digigrader), has sorted my ancient gas lap top so that I can write my stories in bed, and also access The Net!! YaY! The prob is that we (the royal we since I know zilch about it) cannot access hotmail becos we cannot get a @ up to type the e mail addy in. Nothing happens when you press the cap key. Either of them. We just get a comma anyway. This is patently not good. Is there any other way to access the @ key apart from pressing these buttons?
