Lady Sunrope is away today, folks, so I am posting this wee pome wot I wrote for those of ya who have come to look for this week's instalment of Inca2 which will be posted tomorrow.

I wrote this ages ago, and never thought anyone except me and sis might be interested. But you never know!

UPDATE: Just saw this in my local paper's lonely hearts section: "Lively lady, 79, chirpy, fun, wltm similar man for lasting friendship."
Now THAT is optimism!!!!




Half a scene, half a scene,
Half a scene onward,
Into Mount Amon Hen
Strode the Four Hobbits:
'Forward, the Small Brigade!
Charge with those swords," Pete had said:
Right at the Ringwraith's blades
Strode the Four Hobbits.

'Forward, the Small Brigade!'
Was there a man dismay'd ?
No, tho' the Hobbits knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why
Viggo had had to fly -
'Lone in the Mount of Death
Quaked the Four Hobbits.

Billy to the right of Him,
Dommie to left of Him,
Seanie right in front of Him
Parried and Lost it;
Thrust at with rusty swords,
Re-Takes? We're getting Bored,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Fought the Four Hobbits.

Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air
Charging the Black Robed guys,
while All the Crew wonder'd:
(Where the Hell is Viggo?)

Plunged in the fx-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Pete said "Calm down, you Blokes!"
Shatter'd & sunder'd.
Then they strove back to back,
Giving the Raiths a whack
On their robes long and black,
But not the Four Hobbits.
(Lijah was on the Floor, after all!)

Ringwraiths to the right of them,
Ringwraiths to the left of them,
Cameras behind them all
Roll'd, wrapped and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Whilst Frodo slipped and fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death,
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of Four Hobbits.

When can their glory fade?
Oh, the great scene they made!
Why Viggo was delayed,
All the world wonder'd.
(He was having a pee!)

Honour the films they made!
Honour the Small Brigade,
Honour their Loveliness -
Noble Four Hobbits!

I love the pome wot you wrote (although I dislike Tennyson with all that I am)

I kept thinking of Monty Python when I was reading this: Half an inch, half an inch . . . it was all about the ants' version of 'The Charge' *g*
