Just Me Rambling
Feb. 12th, 2009 08:06 pmI have Shelob in my loft! Yay! It's all go here!
Richie went up into the loft to get a new electric blanket I hadn't even taken out of the box. He shouted down that there was a HUGE spider's web up there. I asked how big. He said it reached from the roof to the floor and was half as wide as my living room. So that's about 15 feet by 8 feet. I would LOVE to see the crittur that made that, me dears! :D NOT a money spider, then!
So we brought down the blanket (which was not suitable for what I wanted it) and a bag of papers that I said I'd sort out for re-cycling. Imagine me joy - and my RL friends, here, will know how much I have banged on about this over the couple of years it has been missing - when a photo album I had been looking for for ages, turned up in the bag.
I will not mention that the bag of stuff was put up there years before the album went missing. Those in the know understand what this house is like. It is like a time tunnel. Things go missing and turn up in very odd places, and we have a few of those orange conduit things - goodness knows what they are - two in the garden, one in the house. You are sceptical? Do not be - we have both seen 'em. But this house is a lovely, friendly, calming place where visitors ignore the dust and clutter, (I hope) and enjoy the feeling!
And last, but very very not least! One of my flist has ordered Inca and Egypt from Roberto and Fabio! I am as pleased as if I was making money out of it, myself! Which, of course, I'm not! Just the thought that someone cares enough about my scribblings to put out serious money for the books, is a thrill. Thank you, cutie, for making my day! I will not out her - she can do that herself, if she wishes, or keep it secret, keep it safe. Wheeeee! Is a happy, happy bunny.
So that's what happened today, apart from visiting boring hospital. On the whole, an excellent day. Hugses.

Peel him out of the web and then take him downstairs for loads of restoring cups of cocoa...
and then listen to al of his wonderful yarns!
Am happy for you excellent day, m'dear!

Date: 2009-02-13 12:53 am (UTC)I do wonder at the Shelob that must have made that web, though. Perhaps she's long gone and just left her architectural and engineering marvel for you to remember her by.
Also, I think you must have a Tardis in your house. Maybe your house is a Tardis! Say hello to The Doctor for me. :D

Date: 2009-02-15 09:27 am (UTC)I have a feeling it's an empty thing. Because we have those plug-ins that deter spiders, mice and creepy things, I think they retreated to the furthest point, but couln't stand the sounds. Hey ho! I'd be happier if it was unused! :D xxx

Date: 2009-02-13 08:00 am (UTC)Since I'm hoping to visit shortly, I'm thinking the web has not been made by ONE BIG TERRIFYING INSECT THING but lots of little spidery creatures small enough to step on over the years and are now all, please god, well dead. *breathes*
Indulge my fantasy please even if there's a five foot wide spider corpse in your loft... :)
and Richard is a BRAVE man...

Date: 2009-02-13 12:13 pm (UTC)Strange how things turn up where you least expect them to and how things get moved around when you are certain you never touched them!!!!

Date: 2009-02-13 04:56 pm (UTC)Good grief, that spider must be enormous! 0_0 Daughter of Shelob, indeed! Glad that Rich didn't encounter the Beast, only her web, he may not have survived without a Sam to rescue him!
How lovely that a friend has decided to order copies of your books for herself. If I could afford to I would too... *sigh*
Glad you had an "excellent day" despite the boring hospital :-)
Hugses back
