My Books!

Here, dear friends, are my books, as promised! Not quite perfect, because I did not tell Roberto one or two things that needed sorting, but even Richie - stern critic as he can be - said they were 'great!', and, next time, I'll know better.
It'll be ages before Egypt is ready. All that html to convert, and bits to re-arrange. But I'm sure it'll be worth it. I hope so, anyway.

Two more pics inside, and me waffling on about ways I write - again. Do feel free to skip! :D

I hope you think they are as nice as I do!

I was thinking, last night, of the other way I manage my writings, which, oddly enough, is the same way as [livejournal.com profile] ladysunrope does hers. I dream them. I started writing Egypt after I had a dream in which I was Pharaoh, of Egypt, and, yes, I was a man, with all the tackle, and two wives and children - make of that what you will! Grins.

I was bothered for days after it, because I had ordered a man put to death for laughing at me. I put it in my story. Knefer-Lijedefer, of course, had no qualms about doing so.
That story, and Inca, were revealed to me in glorious Technicolor details. Not all of them are, of course, but the epic ones seem to be, and take on a life beyond my managing. But it doesn't mean I don't sometimes change small bits from what I see. My prerogative!

My wonderful beta, LSR, tells me she can always divine when I have dreamt a particular part, because I tend to put in every detail. I have tried not to do it, but it doesn't work - not with parts I have dreamt. So I have to leave it to her to take out the "walking over to the chair, moving it two inches to the left, sitting down, and re-arranging his skirt". Sigh. Lij in a white pleated kilt, with his hair hanging nearly down to his knees, is something to see, I tells ya! (No shaved heards or fleas, in my AR Egypt.)

Anyway, off for my mid-morning snooze, and to read for a little while. Bye for now!

they are beautiful! Enjoy *hugs*

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I am enjoying just looking at em! Hugses. :D

[identity profile] janejanejane.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 11:47 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much for the peek at your books, they are beautiful! No wonder you are delighted with them. I would be, too, in your place. They look lovely and I'm sure will bring you much pleasure as you read them :-)

I think it's fascinating how you, and LSR, dream some of your stories. Wish my dreams were that exciting! This morning I dreamed I was helping a songwriter with his lyrics, but who he was I have no idea. No one famous that I could recognise, anyway. Helping Elijah reorganise his CD collection would have been much more interesting! ;0)

Your vision of Lij in his kilt with all that glorious hair is something I long to see for myself... *sigh* Hope you have a good snooze and maybe a delightful dream!

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I did have a nice dream. Go me! :D

Helping Lij organise his cd collection must beat my dream of selecting cheeses with him in Harrod's Food Hall! Giggles. :D

[identity profile] janejanejane.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 11:26 am (UTC)(link)
Any dream of Elijah would be good for me...! What cheeses did you choose?

Btw, one of our three gerbils, little Rosie, the brown one with white markings, suddenly became ill and died this morning. Chris noticed when he first got up and after his shower went to pick her up, but she was gasping for breath and just died. Gerbils go downhill so quickly.

Hugs
XXXX

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
I am sorry about little Rosie, my love. Bless. Gerbils do not live long, it is true. I had Praxiteles and Agamemmnon about two years, which was quite good going.

Cheese was brie and some garlicky stuff. I could smell it, it was so strong! Smooches xxxx

[identity profile] janejanejane.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Two years is about the average for our gerbils. Poor little Rosie wasn't with us for long, but she had her own personality and gave us lots of pleasure. I think her life was happy with us.

I'm not surprised you could smell that cheese!

The books look beautiful.. How exciting it must be to see your stories in print. Well done :)

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It is exciting, Belle. I'm very pleased. :D

[identity profile] honeyandvinegar.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Very cool. Makes me wanna follow suit with some of my stuff! :)

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, why not? I'll gladly take anybody's work down to the bois. Think about it! :D

[identity profile] laeb.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
These are so beautiful, they make me wish I could make anthology out of all my short stories and have them printed and bound together. :)

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It cost me £130 for the three. I'm sure there must be places out there that do it cheaper, but I like Roberto and Fabio! They're nice guys. If you want to save up and get one done, shove it on a pen-stick thingy and send it to me. I'll get it done for you! :D

[identity profile] laeb.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 12:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the lovely offer. I'll have to sit down to revise and edit everything before I actually start think about finding a place that would print & bound but I will keep your offer in mind! :)

[identity profile] laeliacatt.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What handsome volumes! I know you're happy they're done and I'm sure you'll be thrilled when all of the Egyptian tales are similarly bound. Egypt will be BIG! Multiple volumes! :D

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Egypt will be big, yup! :D I must finish off my latest series before embarking on such a project. I'm putting together a Miscellany. If Dylan Thomas can do it - so can I. Winks. :D

[identity profile] forestrane.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
The books are wonderful. I bet you just smile every time you even so much as glance at them.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed I do! I'm looking for somewhere special to put them. :D

[identity profile] poplij.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
The books are beautiful ! This may sound odd, but I was thinking it must be great to smell them too *g*
I dream them
You have the most interesting dreams *is envious*
((hugs))

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
I am very blessed in my dreams, I am indeed. And my books are totally beautiful. Wibbles. Hugs back. ;)

[identity profile] mews1945.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Those books are beautiful. Such rich colors in the binding. And I envy you your dreams.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I could bottle my dreams - I'd make a fortune! Winks. :D

[identity profile] arabia764.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)

These books are gorgeous! I really do want one. OK..."Lij in a white pleated kilt, with his hair hanging nearly down to his knees" You see this you lucky woman!! *drools* Did you see the hard sex graphically in your dream that they had this past week in crowner's dilemma. Phew.
hugs you xoxooxox v

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
Watching the DomLijah make love is very special to me - even if it is only in my dreams! Huggles :D

[identity profile] yukiball.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
They are stunning.. I am so jealous. What a feeling it must be to see yourself in print. :) x

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
Aw. I must say it is nice. It makes it all so much sweeter, somehow. :D xxx

[identity profile] bonnie-las.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think your books are absolutely wonderful. To have your very own written words printed and bound, how exciting!

Hopefully I will be able to see them for myself in the not too distant future. *fingers crossed!

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
That would be lovely! You are welcome any time, as you know. :D

[identity profile] lisabellex.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
How beautiful your books look. Oh, you must feel so happy and proud handling those lovely volumes!

*hugs you*

:D

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
I am very happy with them, yes. Hugs you tight. :D

[identity profile] tristanpaulus.livejournal.com 2009-01-24 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Your books are lovely, inside and out :)

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, love. I'm thrilled! :D

[identity profile] itstonedme.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
They are so much bigger than I thought they would be. They look lovely and are really substantial in thickness. They are all books in that there is type on both sides of the page, correct?

I envy you your dreams. Mine are never so fictional; I am tied to my id, it seems.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
They are big, yes, and, unfortunately - this is the boo-boo I was mentioning in my post - they are only printed on one side of the page, because Roberto printed them out as I gave them to him. I didn't think to point this out, and as the printing cost £40 I couldn't afford to re-do it. But, never mind, it is easier for me to read that way, if aesthetically, not so pleasing. But next time I will get them "duplex"!

My dreams go everywhere! I love that they do. My dream-life is so much better than RL, believe me! :D

[identity profile] itstonedme.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
But next time I will get them "duplex"!

But the thickness of the books is nice this way. And looking at the lovely binding and the heavy paper, wouldn't it be wonderful to have your fantastic "illuminations" on the facing pages!! (like in "The Aetheling.")

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I was thinking of that. I might just do it! Grins. :D

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh they're gorgeous!!! If I ever get sorted, I really may do that with those stories I mentioned! But until then it'll likely take a while... :)

I wish I could write like you - let alone dream my stories! I usually need a rough outline for part of the story at least. The way it starts for me is usually with a single scene/idea that pops into my head, and from there I build, though often I need a little help with bridging some gaps. Of course lately all I was able to do, if that, was very small stories. There's that idea I've had back in 2004 which I keep having ideas for (and has turned into a trilogy, even), but to actually write it is so difficult... at best I get a short scene or part of a longer scene done. Will have to try and force myself to sit down on it regularly, even if only once a week, maybe that will eventually help me get back into the flow.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I find all I have to do is bring up the relevant file, and start typing. I'm grateful for that. I don't think I'd do anything if I had to think it out carefully. Hugs you. Yeah, write more; gogogo! :D

[identity profile] ourdramaqueen.livejournal.com 2009-02-01 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm busy clearing some stuff out right now which I wanted to do for ages - hopefully once that's done... :)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/tweedle_/ 2009-01-25 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
What a wonderful way to create! I would pay good money to have some of your dreams, but we all experience them in you writing, so I am more than satisfied. The books look marvellous, duplex or no duplex! XXOO :D

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
They are very satisfying. Yup, I'd be rich if I could sell them - my dreams, I mean. :D xxxx

[identity profile] pattilovesviggo.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
What smashing looking books, I can`t wait to see them, hopefully soon.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They are, indeed smashing! Wibble! :D xxx

[identity profile] primula-baggins.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
They do look lovely! What a wonderful gift to be given your stories in your dreams. I wish I dreamt that way! I'm happy you have some of the stories bound now, and more to be later.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I am very lucky. I've always had dreams like that, from childhood. Some of them would make wonderful films.

And I do love my books! Working on stuff for a Miscellany, and on Egypt, right now!

[identity profile] suzy-74.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Wheee! That must be so exciting to have your stories in "real" print and looking so beautiful. :D

It's very interesting to learn of your writings.

[identity profile] ismenin.livejournal.com 2009-01-26 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, my dear. I expect everyone has their unique way of doing it - and it is interesting to find out how. I think so, too. :D

I love my books! I want MORE!!!
