I make Myself Laugh, Sometimes!

This is NOT me - it's Prim's pic of Lighe's Aunt Ermyngarde. Nice, ain't it? :D
I decided on a Spring Clean.

So, feeling virtuous, I gor rid of - 2 computer monitors, a toaster, 21 videos, two duvets and covers and pillows and cases and a toaster to our freecycle group. I listed for sale, a throw and a sewing basket, two more throws and a bag of kitchen stuff - some free, some for a moderate charge, in my local paper.
As I was listing in the freecycle Yahoo group, I noticed someone had BOOKS for free. Being me, I applied, and today I took ownership of 4 banana boxes of books, the earliest published in 1899, and she (the donor) is bringing me 5 more boxes next week.
So now I have a floor full of books, (300) and nowhere to put them. Well, there are the two shelves Rich has just cleared for me in the pantry!
As LSR would say (and I quote) "What are you like?"
I'm like me - and I like BOOKS!!
"My name is Ruth, and I am a Book Addict" This is very true, and no joke, believe me! But I still make myself laugh. Can't help it!

Date: 2008-04-10 07:24 pm (UTC)I'd love to get my hands on some really old books like that. And if you don't adopt them, they'll wind up on the street, panhandling for a living.

Date: 2008-04-11 09:33 am (UTC)The oldest book I have that belongs to my family is a book of sermons and catechisms from 1635. Now that is old! I love this old stuff. The books were so well-made, too. Put aside for immediate reading are: A bio of Bosie who was Oscar Wilde's boy lover, the Bagdavadghita (or however), lovely tiny edition, The Hunting of the Snark, by Kipling, (looks like a first edition or close as it has the swastika type symbol on the inside cover). I am over the moon. xxx

Date: 2008-04-11 08:04 am (UTC)We are starting tomorrow Spring clean as well. We have planned just our room for starters, or else I'd die with the dust that gets into books no matter how much you clean.
"My name is Ruth, and I am a Book Addict"
LOL. That was fun! I love books as well, but I just cannot get 300 books at home and pretend to live in the house as well.
*hugs you tight*
